10+ Jelly Roll Quilt Patterns and Tutorials
National Sew a Jelly Roll Day is coming up on Saturday, September 21, 2024 and that makes this a good time of year to share more than 10 Jelly Roll Quilt Patterns and Tutorials that I’ve created over the last few years!
While I try to create a new Jelly Roll Quilt Pattern or Tutorial every August to get ready, that didn’t happen this year, so instead of sharing one new pattern or tutorial, I am instead collecting many previous patterns and tutorials into one post so that you all can find the perfect Jelly Roll project.
10 days to go and I haven’t even decided yet which quilt I will make this year, so make sure to take a look at them all and then leave a comment letting me know which one I should sew up next weekend!
10+ Jelly Roll Quilt Patterns and Tutorials
16-Patch Baby Quilt
This baby quilt used 2 1/2″ strips to make the 16-patches. I did not use a pre-made jelly roll for this one but cut the fabric strips from my stash. I’m really, really happy with how the red/purple/green combo came out!
Jelly Roll Rail Fence Quilt
Rail Fence quilts can be made with fabric strips of any width. This one was made with Jelly Roll strips and then the blocks were set on point. This is a great quilt tutorial for those new to quilting and looking for something fast!
A FREE Jelly Roll Quilt Pattern!
The Beachy Boys Quilt Pattern is a FREE quilt pattern for newsletter subscribers and is great for both jelly rolls and scraps. Unless you all vote unanimously for something else in the comments below, this is the one I’m leaning towards making for National Sew a Jelly Roll Day in September 2024.
Jelly Roll Day 2023
This super sweet baby quilt was my 2023 National Sew a Jelly Roll Day quilt project and tutorial. The quilt went together very quickly and then the quilting took forever because I talked myself into doing really, really dense diamonds. I love how it looks though!
A Second Free Quilt Pattern!
This was also a free quilt pattern using a jelly roll plus two background fabrics (one light and one dark).
A Jelly Roll Quilt AND a Scrappy Jelly Roll Binding!
Another rail fence jelly roll on point, this time with sashing to make a larger quilt, PLUS a Jelly Roll scrappy quilt binding tutorial.
Two Temperature Quilts
Both of these Temperature Quilts use 2 1/2″ strips and while they are not exactly jelly roll quilts, you certainly could use a jelly roll (or two or three!) to make them.
Rail Fence Jelly Roll Variation
A fun look at some the variations that come from the basic rail fence quilt block.
Scrappy 4-Patch Baby Quilt
The building blocks of this Scrappy 4-Patch came from scraps rather than jelly rolls, but this could absolutely be made using a jelly roll and some background fabric.
Quick Baby Quilt
This is sort of another Rail Fence quilt, but this time the blocks are made from just two strips rather than three or four. This quilt used less than one whole jelly roll to make the entire quilt and binding.
Checkerboard Baby Quilt
The checkerboard baby quilt is another super fast baby quilt using jelly rolls strips and background fabric.
Bright Baby Quilt
Last, but certainly not least, is this very bright baby quilt.
I hope you’ve found some jelly roll quilt pattern and tutorial inspiration for yourself! I would love it if you could also drop me a comment to help me decide which to make for National Sew a Jelly Roll Day on September 21st! What quilt will you make? What quilt should I make?
Honestly, I haven’t even picked out what fabric I want to use or even settled on a color scheme yet, I’m so behind this year!
