Checkered Stars Quilt Pattern
Checkered Stars Quilt Pattern is the pattern that went from idea to published the fastest. And honestly, it would have been even faster if I hadn’t broken the camera on my phone at the same time that the batteries for my actual camera decided they’d lived a nice long life and no longer wanted to hold a charge. It all started when I was doodling while listening to an online sermon on a Sunday morning.

I bought fabric the next day and got right to work.

Checkerboard Stars quilt pattern uses two background fabrics, to create a checkerboard effect behind stars in a variety of prints and colors.

The Checkered Stars Quilt pattern can be made as coordinated or as scrappy as you like. Directions for using two consistent fabrics for the checkerboards, or using a different fabric in each block, are both included.

I made two versions of Checkered Stars, this is the baby sized quilt. It’s made in soft colors that didn’t photograph well on a sunny day. The camera just couldn’t handle all of the light coming in, as well as distinguish the soft palette of fabrics. I mean, can it ever really be too sunny? Apparently, this quilt says yes!

I also made a large throw, with five different star fabrics, one floral checkerboard and one white on white checkerboard.

The teal stars don’t pop from the floral checkerboard in photos in quite the same way they do in reality.

Personally, I think this quilt would look fantastic in just three fabrics too, like this mock up.

I also want to make a Checkered Stars quilt with two colors in the checkerboard and neutral for the stars, like this Christmas version.

While out on a walk a few weeks ago I happened by these cherry trees. I hightailed it back home, grabbed my Checkered Stars flimsy, and the most recent version of On Point and went straight back to snap some photos.

I mean really, how beautiful is that?!?!
I’ve filed away this location (just a couple of blocks from my house!) and will definitely be back next spring for more quilt photos!
Checkered Stars Quilt Pattern is now in my Etsy shop, I highly recommend you stop by to check it out!

Isn’t God great when he gives you fabulous ideas during a sermon?
I really really like this quilt … I would probably do it in scrappy – but who knows?
Happy Quilting! 🙂

Yes! I’ve always been better at listening while taking notes, but this one Sunday I couldn’t stop doodling, and now here we are! I hope you do make a scrappy version, I would love to see it.
