2024 Quilting Goals
Some years writing quilting goals comes easy, and other years it’s a bit of a stretch. As I start typing this, I don’t have a plan for my 2024 quilting goals, but I’m confident that the more I type, the more they will come together.
Goal 1: Consistency
If 2023 taught me anything, it’s that I need to be consistent in writing, photographing, editing and posting.
Can I still take quilting breaks when I’m burnt out?
Absolutely!
Could 2023 have been my best year ever if I had been even a little more consistent?
Yes.
Would consistency help protect me from burn out?
Also yes.
Consistency.
Goal 2: Quilting for Fun
This is a double edged sword for me.
Yes, I need to make fun a part of my 2024 quilting goals.
I so, so enjoyed quilting without an agenda throughout the year this last year.
But, this is also where I fell off the consistency train last year.
And once off the train, it is HARD to get back on.
Here are some of last years’ just for fun, no writing needed, quilt projects.
Goal 3: Six Quilt Patterns
If I’m going to focus on writing consistency, that *should* lead to more written quilt patterns than the last few years.
Domingo is just about ready to release.
Lattice Stars is coming along nicely. The quilt tops are done, the math is done, just graphics still needed for this one and then some editing. Actually, this quilt top is quilted, bound and ready for it’s new home! You can find it in my Etsy Shop.
I have one last pattern that needs a re-write to include more quilt sizes. That one should be fairly quick and easy, although sometimes adjusting the math to work for other sizes is the most time consuming part of pattern writing.
Goal 4: Use Solids
I don’t know if I can handle an entire quilt in solids. But at least a background fabric.
I prefer tone on tone designs, but there are so many absolutely stunning quilts out there made with solids that I’d like to give it a try.
Goal 5: Quilt Along
Many quilt pattern writers host a quilt-along after each of their pattern releases. I have never done this, but am working towards having the courage.
I’m thinking about starting with the Medallion Quilt, a scrappy quilting project that I made a few years ago. There are tutorials for each of the 5 blocks, so at least it would be a free quilt-along before diving in to the world of pattern quilt-alongs.
If you are interested (not committed, just interested) in a Medallion Quilt Along – the link will take you to a sign up page. No pressure, and currently no time frame either.
Goal 6: Scraps
There have got to be a few scrappy projects that I haven’t yet written tutorials for, right?
Will the scrap box be empty at the end of my 2024 Quilting Goals?
Unlikely.
Are there more scrappy tutorials to write?
Definitely!
In the meantime, here are some scrappy quilting tutorials already written to get you started on your goals to clean out the scrap box. Just click on each photo and it will take you right to the tutorial.
If you haven’t done so already, subscribe to the blog OR to the newsletter to follow along this year as I attempt to meet all 6 goals. You can also find me on Instagram, Facebook, Etsy and Pinterest.

Susan
Hello, Do you have the pattern for the
large blue quilt with white stars that is for sale on Etsy?
It’s stunning!
Thank you, Susan
Darcy
Hi Susan, I am working on a pattern right now. It will likely be spring before it’s ready to publish, but it’s definitely coming soon!

I would love to be a tester for your written patterns.
Darcy
Thank you! I’ll let you know the next time I have a pattern that needs testing.
