Sensation Quilt – A Half Rectangle Triangles Quilt Pattern
I’m so excited to introduce you to my newest quilt pattern – this is Sensation Quilt, a half rectangle triangles quilt pattern!
Learning to make a half rectangle triangles quilt was on my to do list of goals. When I finally sat down to give it a try, it was so much easier than I expected and thus was born Sensation Quilt.
Rectangle triangles? Are you sure that’s a thing?
Yes!
Just as a half square triangle takes a square and cuts it diagonally from corner to corner, so does a half rectangle triangle (HRT).
Sizes and Fabric Requirements
Sensation Quilt is perfect for yardage, fat quarters, layer cakes and larger scraps. Sensation Quilt comes in six sizes from baby size blanket to King size bed quilt. As it is block based, these quilt sizes are just a starting point, but by adding or subtracting rows or columns, you can make Sensation any size you like.
Take a Hike!
As has become typical for me lately, I took Sensation hiking with me and here are lots of photos for you to drool over.
For those of you in Washington State that also like to hike in addition to sew, this is Mt. Baker from the Anderson and Watson Lakes Trail.
We chose not to hike all the way down to Watson Lakes, but just to admire them from above. I’m sure they’re stunning up close, but it was a super windy day and we had had enough.
I also made Sensation in two different colorways in the baby quilt size.
Sensation Quilt can be found in my Etsy Shop. Here is the link to Sensation Quilt pattern, and a link to the entire Etsy shop. The pattern includes templates to make trimming the Half Rectangle Triangle units a piece of cake!
The most important step of quilting is quality control inspection. Scout is particularly good at this step. (Update, she has now stolen this quilt and claimed it as her own.)
If you have also been wanting to learn how to make HRTs, this half rectangle triangles quilt pattern is the one for you! It’s quick, it’s easy enough for advanced beginners. It looks amazing in all fabrics and colors (Christmas quilt, coming right up!) and you should definitely take a look!
