Using March Madness Brackets to Make a Quilt Pattern Sale

As many of you know, I recently hurt my ankle which has led to a significant decrease in quilting time and an astronomical increase in sitting on the couch time.

I spent more time watching March Madness basketball this spring than I ever have before, and had the wild idea to create a bracket style quilt pattern competition where the “winner” would be placed on sale in April.

If you follow me on Instagram or Facebook, or if you are a newsletter subscriber, you got to participate in the voting. If you don’t follow me on social media or receive my newsletters, you should start!

Round One: Elite Eight

I started with eight patterns and I picked the eight through a very scientific process called “which patterns can I find photos of the fastest?”

Double Stars vs. On Point

Domingo vs. Farmhouse Plaid

Blitz vs. Carillon

Obrigado vs. Sensation

Round Two: Final Four

Four patterns won their Round One matchups and moved on to Round Two.

Blitz vs. On Point

Round Three: The Championship!

Two patterns made it through to the Championship match up.

Blitz vs. Farmhouse Plaid

Blitz won by a landslide!

To celebrate, Blitz will be on sale for the remainder of the month, and all quilt patterns will be on sale for the next few days.

As the Champion, Blitz will be 40% off!

Since Farmhouse Plaid made it all the way to the Championship Game, it will be 35% off.

On Point and Obrigado are both 30% off, to celebrate their Round One victories.

All of the quilt patterns from Round One that did not win, Double Stars, Domingo, Carillon and Sensation will be 25% off and all other patterns will be 20% off, because any reason for a sale is a good reason!

Blitz will be on sale until the end of April and all of the other discounts will be valid through Tuesday, April 9th.

While this was all a whim, I am pleasantly surprised by how much engagement there was in my Instagram stories over the last few weeks, so I think I’ll plan to do it again next year using different quilt patterns.
