Diamond Twist Quilt Pattern

This is Diamond Twist

I started the year with a goal of writing two patterns.  I checked that off of my to-do list with Hexie in a Hexie and Sweet Pea.  And here we are, not done with the year yet, but with a third quilt pattern published.

Yay for over-achieving!

You can check out Diamond Twist HERE, or go to my Esty Shop and see all of my quilt patterns.

This is a new quilt pattern, but I’ve actually already written two blog posts about it!  This quilt pattern started as another of my goals for the year– to make a temperature quilt.  There is a temperature quilt tutorial here, and while it will help with making Diamond Twist, it is NOT a good substitute for the full pattern.

Then, because the temperature quilt was a slow process (a take all year sort of slow) I used fabric from my stash, and made up a baby quilt using the same method as my temperature quilt, but without the need to only make one block at a time.  That blog post is here.  Again, helpful info for making Diamond Twist, but not a complete pattern.

So, as I sat back and looked at this completed baby quilt, I started thinking about changes to fabric placement, and that started me thinking about changes to block placement and isn’t that how all new things are created?  Starting with something, and making one small change at a time until something completely new exists.

And so here we have Diamond Twist!  This pattern comes in a variety of quilt sizes, from crib sized up to King Bed sized.  And, for the first time ever in the history of Darcy Quilts Patterns, it comes in two block sizes!  That way you can make any of the quilt sizes with either larger blocks or smaller blocks! Here is a two-color version of Diamond Twist. It doesn’t show well in the photo, but the diamonds are made up of a variety of white on white prints.

I know, I know!  I’m setting standards for all future quilt pattern writing that I may not be able to meet.  That’s alright. Or, if not quite all right, at least that’s a problem for tomorrow or the next day, not today.

I hope you enjoy Diamond Twist and take a look around the full Darcy Quilts Etsy shop at other patterns and custom quilts.

When I’m not quilting, I’m often hiking and Diamond Twist got to go on a hike before delivery to a friend.

It was a gorgeous day, in a gorgeous setting, but we really struggled with getting amazing photos.  The lighting was just not in our favor, but I hope you enjoy these outtakes of my most recent attempt at a #quiltsinthewild photo.

Head on over to my Etsy Shop and take a look at the Diamond Twist pattern listing.

If someone could teach me how to do that awesome Instagram quilt swirl thing, I would really appreciate it!
